Dajipur parikrama

Detailed itinerary

 Dajipur Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area located in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is situated in the Sahyadri mountain range and covers an area of about 120 km2. The sanctuary was established in 1985 with the aim of protecting the biodiversity of the region, especially the Indian bison (also known as gaur), which is the flagship species of the sanctuary.

Ride Type : Partial Support

We tend to bring this new concept of partially supported ride where we would provide necessary logistic and backup vehicle support, rental cycles and a guide on cycle for the expedition. Some initial assistance related to route and stay, food will be provided by our team, but participant riders can choose to drop in for planning. Of course there will be our backup vehicle following the riders with spare cycles in case of breakdown and required tools.

How to Reach:

 Trains can be used from Pune/Mumbai to reach Kolhapur then need to take bus/taxi/jeep for Radhanagari. You can also plan to do car pooling with fellow riders and park your car at Radhanagari.


Cycle Transportation :

Cycles from Pune will be transported till start point and brought back to pune in our support vehicle. You can also opt for rented cycle.

Day 1

Cycling to Dajipur (30 km)

Post breakfast we start our ride from base village. Its going to be a scenic route as we start from Radhanagari. First we encounter a ghat section of Phejiwade crossing which we have a big downhill slope. We complete half the circuit today and end our day at a homestay near Dajipur. We get some time to explore the village.

Day 2

Back to Radhanagari (25km)

We can also plan an early morning jeep safari to visit the sanctuary.Today, we start the return journey but on a different route to complete the circuit. We also visit Gagangiri Math on the way.

Things to carry

 

  • Sports shoes while cycling and trekking, floaters at campsite
  • 1 lit water bottle, 
  • Front and rear flash lights (optional),
  • 3/4ths   or cycling shorts or track bottoms, cycling dry fit or cotton t-shirt,   riding gloves(optional), sweat band or bandana, Anti-rash cream or dusting powder to avoid rash near the groin area from cycling, Rainwear
  • Helmet, camera(optional), and extra clothes to change post ride.

Inclusions : 

  • A support vehicle all along the route, which would take care of your luggage, a lead cyclist and Ride expertise
  • First Aid if required
  • Hydration support while riding
  • Spare cycle in case of breakdown, puncture and minor repairs support
  • Cycles will be transported to the start point and back to meeting point in our support vehicle


Exclusions : 

  • Camping and food charges, any expenses of personal nature such as mineral water, laundry, liquor, tips to driver or any other service personnel etc. 
  • Any kind of insurance, such as accident, theft, medical, evacuation etc. 
  • Any   additional expense caused due to any reason beyond control of Pedal   Thirst Adventures and its associates; like change in itinerary due to   flight delays, road blockage, landslides, bad weather conditions,  bridge  breakage and any other natural calamity or incidence like  strike,  curfew etc. on which Pedal thirst adventures and its associates  do not  have any control. 
  • Items not specified above in “Inclusions”. 
  • Jeep safari charges or forest entry charges.
  • Transportion of riders from Pune to Radhanagari and back to Pune.

Charges

Base package - 3000 /- 

Rental cycle - 1000 /-

Camping cost on shareable basis directly to be paid at campsite - Roughly 1k which includes Lunch, dinner, breakfast, camping and Rappeling. Day 2 lunch, dinner is not included.

Disclaimer

 

  • The   participants will participate at their own risk and the organizers   shall not be responsible for any loss what so ever caused due to   accidents, if any, during the trail.
  • This   cycle expedition is in a relatively remote region, where advanced,   professional medical help may not be available as easily as it is in   Mumbai or Pune. It would be the participant’s responsibility to ensure   that he or she is in good health, physically and mentally both. It  would  be advisable to speak to your physician if you are unsure of your   fitness levels. In case you have an existing medical condition or   disability you must inform us before booking with us. In case of any   health problem that you might face on the trip, it would be advisable  to  speak to your tour leader. The tour leader would be equipped to give   only first aid to participants. Any expense incurred by us for any   medical emergency / for evacuation for any reason, the expenses for the   same would be borne by the concerned participant. 

Notes

 

  • Your  luggage would be carried in the support vehicle. Keep all clothes and  electric items in platic bags  to avoid getting wet in support vehicle.
  • A trail guide would be with us throughout the journey.
  • It is mandatory for all participants to wear helmets on the ride. 
  • On  this arduous cycle trip delays and detours are possible on account of  landslides, road blocks and weather conditions. Our effort would be to  continue with the trip as per the schedule; make sure that you would be  comfortable. But in such rare situations we could have to compromise on  the accommodation that we have booked and adjust to these situations  there. No compensation of any sort would be provided in such an event.
  • The  itinerary described above is the planned one; but very rarely due to  reasons beyond our control some spot changes would have to be done. The  decision of the tour guide would be final in such a case. No  compensation of any sort would be provided in such a case.
  • The  distances mentioned in the above itinerary are to the best of our  knowledge & information. Some minor variations would be expected.
  • The cost mentioned above is for India citizen.
