Goa to gokarna

Detailed itinerary

Goa to Gokarna

Gokarna means cow's ear. It is believed that lord Shiva emerged from the ear of a cow (Prithvi, the Mother Earth) here. It is at the ear-shaped confluence of two rivers Gangavalli and Aghanashini. Gokarna has much to offer than just being a hindu pilgrimage village or paradise for solo travellers.

With its clear waters and picturesque landscapes, gokarna can be a great destination for cyclists. We will also be riding to Yana caves and Vibhuti waterfalls.

Dates : 20-23 Aug 2025

Places of Attraction : south Goa, offbeat route, clean beaches, gokarna temples, yana caves, and many waterfalls

Day 2: Ankola (70 km)

Today will be a long day of riding. Instead of taking the normal highway route, we will be riding through the cotigao forest and enter Karnataka through a jungle checkpost. Post few kms we join the karwar highway. For few kms we will continue on the highway to end our ride at a peaceful town of Ankola.

Day 3: Gokarna (30 km)

Today we will be starting our ride by catching a ferry to cross the river at Gangavalli. Post ferry it is going to be a flat section with very little inclines. We visit some pristine beaches of Gokarna, the famous Mahabaleshwar temple and end our ride at a homestay to enjoy the local cuisine.

Day 4: Yana caves(50 km)

The last day of the expedition is again going to be a busy day where we will be visiting the Mirjan fort, the Vibhuti falls and the famous Yana caves. But today will be a one way ride and we will plan to return to the homestay in local vehicle.
